I think we are confusing multiple issues here. Once the 6 month period is over where the I-140 is approved and the I-485 is pending for 180 days it does NOT matter if the employer revokes the I-140 or not. You are good to go! (Unless ur a classified terrorist or a criminal).
The only question is, Can you still get a 3 year extention based on a I-140 that is revoked? I am thinking that may be an issue. In that scenario, you would be forced to play the EAD card.
Refer to my previous posting: if employer revokes even after 180 days; eventually everyone has been ok. However there are has been many straight denials by uscis even if person invoked ac21. Then person has problems renewing ead/ap, etc. Eventually person should be ok but in between there are some problems one needs to face. One needs to be ready to face these problems/issues.

Got the approval notice today :) "Welcome to the United States of America" - ironically i have been in this country for a decade now! finally the "welcome" :)
It has been a very long journey!!! and a very frustrating one for the last few years... but the feeling that I now get is really liberating... first thing I did was thanked God for ending the seemingly endless wait that me and my wife (she didn't care as much) were in.
I'm already thinking of the things I want to do after this new found liberation... it includes showing the middle finger to those who have taken undue advantage of my status  :D and i'm not taking it anymore... I'll be a new person starting Monday!
Just so there is no confusion... my PD was Feb 2003 EB3 but my wife's PD was EB2 April 2004... we got our freedom through her application. If anyone needs more info on how/what/when - i can share that (it had its up's and downs - mainly downs, but all's well that ends well)!
Lastly as a token of my real support to the cause of IV I will be donating a small amount. I have donated in the past... I have participated in conversations in the past... I was not so active on other fronts but I truly believe in this organizations effort to help the community. And God willing each one of you will get this freedom soon! God Bless!
Congrats and Best Wishes

No objections to AAPI especially when my spouse is a doctor and we are indian... But ethnic diversity in IV is not "good to have", But is must.
In my view It will be easy to achieve goals set by IV with broadbased
support from various ethnic groups.
PS : I am happy it doesn't turn out to be "pie fight" uptill now, But It is always advisable to be cautious.
True - ever heard of the saying 'you can lead a horse to the water, but you cannot force it to drink'!
You cannot rent volunteers either!
Keep trying to encourage more 'other people' to join! But I hope you are not trying to get diversity for diversity's sake - by excluding people who are of same origin as you!

My file is also sent to des moines IA. been there since june 08.
PD is current for a while. no updates yet.
On July 21st, 2008 my case was transferred to CSC where they are not even processing any 485s. I waited to several years for PD to become current and no sooner did it became current, it was transferred to a black hole. I got different versions from customer service/Io and info pass persons as to where the case is. The reality is that I do not know where my case is right now. The website still shows that it was transferred to CSC.

Well that's where the problem lies. State of Arizona considers me a resident based on:
1. I have lived here for past 12 consacutive month.
2. Pay state taxes.
Yet the university refuses to accept that and still consideres me non-resident just to charge a higher fee. This is so strange.
I would consult an attorney to understand your residency status..
usually at the time of filing your tax you do declare your residency status (like you are a resident of X or Y state..(if i am not wrong)..]
I think its a legal loophole they are exploiting..sad;-(

Nice set of questions...
as long as primary is H1 and is working for the sponsored employer, switching the status between H4 and EAD should not be a problem, It is always good to have a set of approved AP.
I might be wrong, please throw some more suggestions.
Last year, One of my co workers went to china, just before he left, he got his green card, a month before he had got his AP. When he arrived at the POE, he made use of his AP instead of GC, when I asked him why he did that? He said he wanted to take advantage of AP as he paid for the AP :D
Does that mean that his GC is invalid, the officer at POE could have cross checked whether he had a GC !!!
Similarly, the officers cant check between EAD and H4..

Or take non stop flights from JFK/EWR for east coast ppl.
People travelling to India, especially from the West coast should fly via the Pacific. Asian airlines such as Thai, Cathay and Asiana all offer better fares, better service and faster transit times.Plus these countries are not trying to fleece people by requiring that they get a "Direct Airside Transit Visa". It happened with my family when they reached the airport to board their flight on Virgin , they were not allowed.I then bought tickets on Thai for the next day. To compound the pain, Virgin imposed a "No Show" fee on each ticket despite going to the airport. I think it would be best to avoid most European carriers, if for no other reason but they offer higher fares, terrible service, long transit times and last but not the least; the scam of the century(Airport Transit Visas). What do they think the passengers will try to do, jump off the walkway and make a run for it so they can settle illegally in U.K!I think the U.K govt is running out of ways to make money so they have found the most ridiculous way to make a few extra pounds from people foolish enough to travel on one of their carriers! DONT FLY VIA U.K. PERIOD!

In central NJ, I called over 9 Doctors and only two of them had an appointment before July 1st -2nd week.
One is Dr. Neil M.S. Estrella in Clark, NJ. Appointment was available for Monday June 18th. But the fees for the exam plus vaccines is $430. The second one is Dr. Marcel Stern in Piscataway, NJ 08854. Appoitnment was available for Thursday June 21st. The fees was more reasonable at $350.
If you're in Central NJ, Hurry, Hurry Hurry.
P.S - If some of you get other appoitnments in NJ, post here so that others will know and not waste time calling other doctors.
To look for doctors in your area, go here :

Canada is a great country, I am sure there are plenty of good trash cans all around the country, surely they can hold a small litte I94.
Or how about getting your I 94 framed and selling it on ebay?
Relax..............have a great future in Canada...
Dude, You can use I-94 card as a toilet paper when you take the very first exit in Canada. You are leaving for good! Do not worry about it. Meanwhile, congratulations for taking this bold step and moving to Canada after 6 years of H1-B. I wish you well.
It's ridiculous how people start to bad mouth everything related to US once they get a PR from another country, especially Canada. Its like kicking off the same ladder that you used for climbing.
1. You gained entry into US with the toilet paper.
2. The toilet paper allowed you stay legally in this country.
3. The legal stay enabled you to apply for Canadian PR from Canadian Consulate General in Buffalo where the processing time is less than 2 years.
4. The legal stay enabled you to earn sufficient funds which you showed as proof of funds in your application papers.
5. The legal stay enabled you to get police clearance certificates from FBI and also from your countrys consulate in US.
Now lets say you didnt have this toilet paper and applied for Canadian PR for India.
1) You would only be eligible to apply from Canadian Consulate General in NewDelhi where the processing time is more than 5 years.
2) If you are from a middle class background, then you would have a hard time in providing the proof of funds for a family of 4, with your earnings from India.
3) You would have to grease the palms of police to get police clearance certificates and they are gonna take their own sweet time to provide you these documents.
Now be thankful that you got away from all these with the toilet paper. And remember that you are leaving to Canada not because of your love for the country, but because you didnt get your US GC on time. Sour grapes, huh?
I know that i will be getting red dots for this post from hypocrites and I don't give a damn about it. All I can say to them is "Instead of pressing your finger against the mouse, press it against your forehead and think about the benifits that you milked from this country".

I totally agree with u we dont know what situation that guy must be to take this decision..Here people gets panicked when they dont get their EAD card and Advance parole in time. So guys just pls pray that his soul gets peace...
"His soul gets peace"? Are you kidding me? This is a guy who murdered his entire family. Sorry, I have no sympathy for him. Let's not call this thing a suicide okay? He killed 5 or 6 people, that too his own family members and that is murder. The fact that he committed suicide is irrelevant.

I am sure lot of us who are stuck in this GC mess like you can relate to your frustration and must be looking for a backup plan. There are certainly other attractive options like you mentioned if one does decide to jump ship and frankly I have done the same. Should this GC issue not get resolved in a reasonable amount of time, I am fully prepared and ready to jump off of GC wagon. I suggest we all do that.
Guys,
The reality is that we are just being played upon by the companies and the US govt regarding green cards. Employers know that we are not going to budge from our jobs to maintain the coveted priority date and the government is in no big hurry to reform the system as they can collect taxes from us without being accountable to us.
I think Democrats are also going to drag the immigration issue as seen by the article below :
http://www.suntimes.com/news/otherviews/151357,CST-EDT-Perez28.article
I do not mean to doubt IV, but the writing is on the wall that our lobbying efforts are not going to go too far.
For all of you single people out there, the only fastest option is to marry a US girl/guy. For all those who are married, the choices are simple, forget the American dream and adopt a Canadian or Australian dream or endure the uncertainty of a green card application.
I have reached the conclusion that I cannot bear this uncertainty any more and therefore, I am pursuing other options. Ciao...Good luck to all those waiting for a GC!

just for comparison sakes...do remember that the distance from churchgate to virar (in bombay) is 35 km. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mumbai_Suburban_Railway.
That is equivalent of approx 22 miles. I doubt there is anybody is bombay that drives 35 km one way on a daily basis. But in the US living 10-20 miles from work is not bad. People in my office drive about 40 miles one way without blinking an eyelid. Some drive even more. Plus the cars that they have in india have smaller engines, smaller capacity thereby better gas mileage.
So for people who say gas is a non issue, think again.
not to mention public tranportation in Bombay compared to majority of US cities, barring handful like San Francisco, Chicago and New York.

Really great job on the singing Pankaj!!! It was really impressive!
Even though it was not really the anthem for anyone there, it was a nice gesture to sing the national anthem of the people we are asking to help us. Plus, it is the only anthem that we all have in common...
Also, you have chosen to move to this country, please have the courtesy to adapt to American values. Singing the national anthem is always right.
